Toothache & Emergencies · Islamabad

Tooth pain, seen to properly.

If a tooth is aching, swollen or broken, message us and we will see you as soon as we can. Dr Omer Awan and Dr Yousuf Azimi find the cause, relieve the pain and explain your options, at RESTŌR in F-7 Markaz.

Common causes

Pain usually has a cause we can treat.

Most toothache comes from a handful of causes. Finding which one is the first step, because the treatment depends on it.

01

Decay and Infection

Deep decay can reach the nerve and cause throbbing or night-time pain. Root canal treatment can often save the tooth.

02

Broken or Cracked Teeth

A chipped or cracked tooth can be sensitive or sharp to bite on. It can usually be rebuilt with a filling or a crown.

03

Wisdom Teeth and Gums

Pain at the back of the mouth is often a wisdom tooth or swollen gum. An X-ray shows whether it needs treatment or removal.

Treatment

How we treat the pain.

Everything is explained before it begins, with a written fee, and nothing is done that you haven’t agreed to.

01

Examination and X-ray

We find the tooth causing the pain and the reason for it, so the treatment is aimed at the real problem.

02

Root Canal Treatment

The infected nerve inside the tooth is cleaned and sealed under local anaesthetic, so the tooth can be kept.

03

Fillings and Repairs

Broken or decayed teeth are rebuilt. A crown may be advised for a tooth that has lost a lot of its structure.

04

Extraction and Replacement

If a tooth cannot be saved, it is removed gently, and we explain the options for replacing it, including implants.

FAQ

Questions patients ask.

Can you see me today?

Message us on WhatsApp on 0301 0 737867. We are open Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm, and will offer the earliest available appointment.

When should I go to a hospital instead?

Go to a hospital emergency department straight away if swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, a high fever, or bleeding that will not stop.

What can I do until my appointment?

Rinse gently with warm salt water and avoid very hot, cold or sweet food on that side. If you take a pain reliever, follow the pack instructions or ask a pharmacist. Do not place tablets directly on the gum.

Will I need a root canal or an extraction?

It depends on how much of the tooth is healthy. We check first and explain both options; saving the tooth is usually preferred when it is possible.

Is root canal treatment painful?

It is done under local anaesthetic, so most people feel little more than they would with a normal filling. The tooth may be tender for a few days afterwards.

What does treatment cost?

The consultation is PKR 3,000. Treatment fees depend on what is needed and are given to you in writing before anything begins. Our root canal cost guide explains what shapes the fee.
